The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes<\/span>, the much-anticipated Hunger Games prequel film<\/a>, is coming to the big screen and, much like the original franchise, <\/span>it boasts a star-studded cast<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Set 64 years before the first Hunger Games film, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes<\/a> <\/span>follows the story of Coriolanus Snow (played by Tom Blyth) and his relationship with Lucy Gray Baird (Rachel Zegler).<\/span><\/p>\n

And while the prequel will introduce plenty of new faces, it will also feature a number of familiar characters including Tigris Snow (originally played by Eugenie Bondurant in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2), t<\/span>he cousin and confidant of Blyth\u2019s future president of Panem.<\/span><\/p>\n

Euphoria\u2019s Hunter Schafer<\/a> will take on the part in the upcoming prequel and, in an <\/span>interview with<\/span> EW<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Hunger Games director Francis Lawrence revealed why she was cast in the role.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s one of the more authentic people I\u2019ve ever personally met. So many people came in and read, [but] they were thinking more of Liz Banks\u2019 Effie Trinket than they were of Tigris,\u201d he explained.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re putting on this Capitol effect, and it\u2019s just so phony. Hunter came in and did the scene, and she was so endearing and warm.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Hunter Schafer is an American actress who made her acting debut at the age of 21 portraying Jules Vaughan<\/a> on the HBO drama Euphoria alongside Zendaya.<\/span><\/p>\n

Talking about her sudden rise to fame, she previously told<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Elle UK<\/span><\/a>: \u201cFrom the airing of the first episode to my first million followers on Instagram, it was, like, a month. It was a huge adjustment, for sure.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Schafer also models for some of the biggest fashion brands in the world, including Prada and Dior.<\/span><\/p>\n

What has Hunter Schafer said about joining the Hunger Games?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Schafer has spoken about the franchise\u2019s \u201cuniversal message\u201d, telling Pink News<\/a>:\u00a0<\/span>\u201cIt\u2019s the same thing that resonated even before the [original trilogy] came out.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

She continued: \u201cOn the surface, the books are [set in] a dystopian sci-fi world [but] there\u2019s something deeply human about the issues [the characters are] facing. It\u2019s universal in a really crazy way.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

She added: \u201cThat\u2019s one of the achievements of this series. They\u2019re able to deliver a human and universal message through a distinct and unique world. Hopefully, that\u2019s the same resonance [the new film] will deliver.\u201d<\/p>\n

She went on to add that she connected to her character thanks to their shared love of fashion\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For Tigris, fashion is <\/span>\u201clike an armour which I really relate to, as far as using fashion in that way,\u201d she said.<\/span><\/p>\n
