Julianne Moore and Nicholas Galitzine star in the shocking trailer for Sky<\/a>\u2018s Mary & George, which peels back the curtain on an overlooked chapter in British history.<\/p>\n

The series explores how noblewoman Mary Villiers (Moore) prepared her handsome and charismatic son, George (Galitzine), to seduce King James I of England and VI of Scotland (Tony Curran) in order to grow their wealth and power.<\/p>\n

The drama, which is a co-production between Sky and STARZ, will depict how this \u201coutrageous\u201d and \u201caudacious\u201d scheme brought the Villiers to the very heart of that era\u2019s establishment.<\/p>\n

Check out the jaw-dropping trailer now:<\/p>\n\n<p>The intense and visually striking teaser is set to a remix of classic The Stooges track I Wanna Be Your Dog, giving viewers a glimpse at the unpredictable events that await.<\/p>\n<p>Directing duties on Mary & George have been shared by Oliver Hermanus (Living), Alex Winckler (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/tv\/drama\/somewhere-boy-cast-channel-4\/\">Somewhere Boy<\/a>) and Florian Cossen (Deutschland 86), while playwright DC Moore (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/tv\/drama\/killing-eve-season-5-exclusive-newsupdate\/\">Killing Eve<\/a>) penned the script.<\/p> <p>For those interested in the true story, Mary & George is inspired by the 2017 non-fiction book <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.co.uk\/Kings-Assassin-Affair-George-Villiers-ebook\/dp\/B06XGHMVWF\/?tag=radtim0b-21&ascsubtag=radiotimes-0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"sponsored noopener noreferrer\">The King\u2019s Assassin<\/a>, written by Benjamin Woolley.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, Moore needs no introduction to viewers, with the Academy Award winner\u2019s past projects including Still Alice, Boogie Nights and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/movies\/the-hunger-games-movies-order\/\">The Hunger Games film series<\/a>. She\u2019ll next be seen opposite Natalie Portman in dark comedy May December.<\/p>\n<p>Galitzine is a more recent breakout, who won a legion of new fans earlier this year for his turn in LGBTQ+ romcom <a href=\"https:\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/movies\/red-white-royal-blue-review\/\">Red, White and Royal Blue<\/a>.
