The five-part series, which is filming now, will be based on the novel of the same name<\/a> by Richard Flanagan, and will tell the story of Dorrigo Evans (Elordi), an Australian doctor in a prisoner of war camp in the Second World War, who is haunted by his love affair with a young woman, Amy Mulvaney.<\/p>\n Through adversity, he becomes an \u201cunlikely and uncomfortable\u201d hero.<\/p>\n As well as Hinds, who will play the older version of Dorrigo, the show has recently announced Odessa Young (Mothering Sunday) as Amy.<\/p>\n She joins a cast which includes Olivia DeJonge (Elvis), Heather Mitchell (Love Me), Thomas Weatherall (Heartbreak High), Sh\u00f4 Kasamatsu (Tokyo Vice) and Simon Baker (Limbo).<\/p>\n The series has been adapted by Shaun Grant (Nitram) and director Justin Kurzel (Macbeth), and the narrative will reportedly use multiple timeframes.<\/p>\n Sarah Christie, senior development executive at Amazon MGM Studios, said: \u201cWith talents like Jacob Elordi, Ciar\u00e1n Hinds and Odessa Young at the helm, The Narrow Road to the Deep North promises to be a cinematic, visceral and undeniable contemporary love story, which explores the power of mateship and the strength of the human spirit in the face of adversity.<\/p>\n Read more:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cWe just know that this series is going to resonate with customers\u2026 and are proud to be partnering with Curio Pictures\u2019s Jo Porter and Rachel Gardner, who will bring this incredible story to life alongside the award-winning director and executive producer Justin Kurzel, and writer and executive producer Shaun Grant.\u201d<\/p>\n Elordi, who is known for his role in Euphoria<\/a>, has had a big year, appearing in major releases including Saltburn<\/a> and Priscilla<\/a>.<\/p> Elordi plays Elvis Presley in the latter, and he admitted<\/a> that he didn\u2019t \u201cwant to tell the same story\u201d in the film as was told last year in Austin Butler\u2019s Elvis.<\/p>\n He said: \u201cIt\u2019s a completely different thing.
