The news comes after the future of the series was put into question after presenter Freddie Flintoff<\/a>\u2018s serious car crash last year at Dunsfold Park Aerodrome in Surrey.<\/p>\n The 34th season was brought to a halt and RadioTimes.com<\/a> understands that a health and safety review of the show was launched, with a decision on the timing of any future Top Gear instalments following afterwards.<\/p>\n Well, now the fate of Top Gear has been sealed for the time being, with the BBC saying in their statement: \u201c[It] remains committed to Freddie, Chris and Paddy, who have been at the heart of the show\u2019s renaissance since 2019, and we\u2019re excited about new projects being developed with each of them. We will have more to say in the near future on this.<\/p>\n \u201cWe know resting the show will be disappointing news for fans, but it is the right thing to do.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n \u201cAll other Top Gear activity remains unaffected by this hiatus, including international formats, digital, magazines and licensing.\u201d<\/p> Flintoff\u2019s accident last December saw him being rushed to hospital via air ambulance after he was involved in a high speed crash at the track. The former cricketer was actually seen in public for the first time in September at a one-day cricket international between England and New Zealand at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Flintoff also recently reached an agreement with the BBC<\/a>, reportedly worth \u00a39m, but the payout will not be funded by the TV licence fee, as BBC Studios is a commercial arm of the broadcaster.<\/p>\n BBC Studios said the external investigation report \u201cwas concluded in March of this year and is not being published, which we have always made clear\u201d.<\/p>\n Speaking about lessons that they\u2019re taking into the future, they stated: \u201cLearnings included a detailed action plan involving changes in the ways of working, such as increased clarity on roles and responsibilities and better communication between teams for any future Top Gear production.\u201d<\/p>\n Read more:<\/strong><\/p>\n The news of Top Gear\u2019s shelving comes after the BBC denied reports that the long-running series has been cancelled earlier this month.<\/p>\n On Friday 6th October,\u00a0The Sun<\/a> had reported that the show\u2019s production staff had been told to focus on other work and that there was \u201cno way\u201d that the show could continue after presenter Flintoff\u2019s crash last year.<\/p>\n The BBC had released a statement on the claims, saying: \u201cA decision on the timing of future Top Gear shows will be made in due course with BBC Content.\u201d<\/p>\n Flintoff was part of the presenting line-up that included Paddy McGuinness\u00a0and Chris Harris who, more recently, had offered an update on Flintoff\u2019s recovery, saying in an interview with The Times<\/a>: \u201cI\u2019m just over the moon that my friend Fred is still with us.<\/p>\n \u201cIf there is only one good thing that comes out of it, it is that there\u2019s been dignity.
