Charlie Brooker\u2019s Black Mirror<\/a> has reportedly been renewed for season 7 at Netflix<\/a>, with production starting later this year.<\/p>\n

Season 6 of the Netflix show aired earlier this year, returning to screens after four years away, with an all-star cast<\/a> including Salma Hayek, Aaron Paul, Annie Murphy, Paapa Essiedu, and Michael Cera.<\/p>\n

Variety<\/a> reports that the series will be coming back for a seventh season, with Brooker, Annabel Jones and Jessica Rhodes returning as executive producers.<\/p>\n

The report adds that casting has not been confirmed and that plot details and episode numbers are being kept under wraps.<\/p>\n

Season 6 consisted of five parts, including a comment on true crime with Loch Henry<\/a>, a foray into horror with Mazey Day<\/a>, and embracing the surreal with Demon 79<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The latest season also introduced the Red Mirror<\/a> label for the first time \u2013 a shift in focus for certain episodes, which don\u2019t focus on tech at all.<\/p>\n

Previously chatting about the potential for more episodes, Brooker said we could \u201cpossibly\u201d see more episodes under the label.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt depends what people make of it and how it gets received and this, that and the other,\u201d he added.<\/p>

\u201cIt was really really useful as a sort of refresh \u2013 a reset. When Black Mirror started, it was 2011 and, at the time, there weren\u2019t many shows that looked like it or there weren\u2019t many shows where someone looked at a smartphone, frankly, let alone obsessed over one and sat there staring at it until it ruined them. It felt like there\u2019s quite a few shows with dystopian sci-fi technical themes.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, partly what I was doing, I was setting myself a task of, \u2018What if I think of some storylines that aren\u2019t to do with technology and are to do with horror or set in the past?\u2019 It was partly doing that and then, through doing that, we got an episode \u2013 Demon 79, which is set in 1979 and is almost like a companion piece to Black Mirror.<\/p>
