The conclusion of the 50th anniversary docudrama was tweaked for its latest broadcast. <\/p>

The era of Ncuti Gatwa is almost here and, to celebrate, the new Doctor Who<\/a> star has been added to the revamped version of An Adventure in Space and Time<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The docudrama, which tells the story of Doctor Who\u2019s beginnings, was penned by Mark Gatiss and released for the sci-fi\u2019s 50th anniversary in 2013. The emotional final scene showed William Hartnell looking up to see Matt Smith, playing the Eleventh Doctor (and the current Doctor when the programme was released), marking how the series would continue for years to come.<\/p>\n

However, with the programme repeated on BBC Four and being added to BBC iPlayer as part of the \u201cWhoniverse\u201d, a small addition has been made \u2013 now, when Hartnell looks up, he sees incoming Doctor Ncuti Gatwa.<\/p>\n

Returning showrunner Russell T Davies was previously tight-lipped about why An Adventure in Space and Time hadn\u2019t been released on BBC iPlayer with the rest of the back catalogue, simply promising that it would be there soon.<\/p>\n

Gatiss recently chatted exclusively with RadioTimes.com<\/a> about a potential sequel to the programme.<\/p>\n

He\u00a0reflected: \u201cThe origins of everything, that\u2019s always the interesting thing. The other interesting thing is crisis..<\/p>\n

\u201cThe documentary about\u00a0The Trial of a Time Lord<\/a>\u00a0is an absolutely fascinating piece of work, because it\u2019s so full of what ifs and conflict.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cIt\u2019s a strange thing to say, but the darkest hour for the show would definitely make a very interesting drama, wouldn\u2019t it? I mean, the personal conflicts, the professional conflicts, the resignations\u2026 that\u2019s the one, isn\u2019t it?<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I suppose out of the darkness comes the light, because there\u2019s a rosy future to look forward to.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s something very moving about [Tales of the TARDIS<\/a>] rounding all that off.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gatwa will play the Fifteenth Doctor, with his era beginning this Christmas. He\u2019ll be joined by Millie Gibson, who\u2019s playing companion Ruby Sunday.<\/p>
