Lawrence Chaney, the winner of RuPaul\u2019s Drag Race UK<\/a> series two has spoken about the third season\u2019s casting of Victoria Scone, saying that the franchise\u2019s first cisgender female contestant will give \u201cthe world a bit of a shake-up\u201d.<\/p>\n

The Glaswegian drag queen shared her thoughts on the Drag Race UK season three line-up<\/a> in an exclusive interview\u00a0with\u00a0RadioTimes.com<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>ahead of the launch of her new Samsung KX series Lawrence Chaney: Unfolded.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know, I don\u2019t know if you\u2019ve seen already, I\u2019ve not been vocal about it at all!\u201d she quipped.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo \u2013 I have been very vocal about it because I love Victoria Scone, who is the first cisgender female to be on Drag Race, and I think she\u2019s given the world a bit of a shake-up \u2013 and I think that\u2019s about time.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe see drag so much now, we\u2019re used to this kind of, \u2018It. is. A. Man. That. Is. It,\u2019 and that\u2019s such an outdated thing.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you go to a drag gig, when you go to the club \u2013 a queer club \u2013 there are all sorts of people, different genders, different races, it is not a male sport. I think for people to debating Victoria Scone\u2019s existence, I think that it is inherently misogynistic.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd all I want is people to admit that they\u2019re being misogynistic, rather than when they go, \u2018Although I\u2019m not sure how she\u2019ll do with make-up?\u2019 and you\u2019re looking at Victoria Scone and you\u2019re like, \u2018Her make-up is amazing. What else? What else have you got? You just have a problem with a woman competing in a show you perceived as a male-only thing.\u2019<\/p>

\u201cPeople like Bimini [Bon Boulash] are non-binary, people like Gottmik are trans, Gia Gunn is a trans woman and Kylie Sonique is a trans woman, so it\u2019s not just this box for cisgender men anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n

Victoria Scone is one of 12 drag queens set to compete in the upcoming third season of RuPaul\u2019s Drag Race UK, which airs later this month.<\/p>\n

Chaney, who won the show\u2019s second series in April, is now the star of Samsung KX\u2019s Lawrence Chaney: Unfolded \u2013 a three-part web series in which she discusses the art of multitasking and explores her life both in and out of drag.<\/p>\n
