The Call the Midwife<\/a> Christmas special is almost upon us and its stars have been teasing what we can expect from the annual TV event.<\/p>\n

Speaking about what\u2019s in store for Trixie and Matthew, Helen George said: \u201cIt\u2019s their first Christmas together as a married couple, so it\u2019s one of those awkward years when they\u2019re trying to work out what they\u2019re going to do.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd Trixie doesn\u2019t really have any family apart from Nonnatus House, and of course he\u2019s a Chelsea boy, so does he really want to spend Christmas in Poplar?\u201d<\/p>\n

Olly Rix continued: \u201cAnd despite what they might want it to be like, they don\u2019t get the choice. They have this house guest [Trixie\u2019s brother Geoffrey<\/a>], a<\/span>nd they have all these obligations at Nonnatus House. He\u2019s just sort of screaming inside.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe hides it well,\u201d said George.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith a smile, or a grimace,\u201d added Rix.<\/p>\n

George went on to discuss the dynamic between Trixie and her brother, and how Geoffrey\u2019s presence impacts Matthew.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey just kind of settle back into that sibling relationship where they love each other dearly, but can wind each other up and all the rest of it,\u201d she explained. \u201cHe\u2019s a really fun energy to have around and so different from our relationship, Trixie\u2019s relationship with Matthew.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey [Matthew and Geoffrey] are just such different entities, so the clash of the two of them together, Matthew raising an eyebrow and Geoffrey\u2019s flourish, it\u2019s a lovely juxtaposition of characters.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd I think they complement each other very well. You can imagine how they were brought up. And there are lots of lovely scenes where\u2026 we refer back to our childhood and our father and the unhappiness, and how they both learned to use comedy and glamour as a way of distorting the truth.\u201d<\/p>\n
