The veil of secrecy surrounding the next episode of Doctor Who<\/a>, Wild Blue Yonder, is slowing beginning to lift, with the BBC dropping a first-look clip.<\/p>\n

The episode, written by showrunner Russell T Davies, promises to take the Doctor (David Tennant) and Donna (Catherine Tate) \u201cto the furthest edge of adventure\u201d.<\/p>\n

The synopsis continues: \u201cTo escape, they must face the most desperate fight of their lives, with the fate of the universe at stake.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the new clip, Donna is left panicked when the TARDIS disappears, with the Doctor promising to return her home to her daughter Rose. But it appears someone \u2013 or something \u2013 is watching them\u2026<\/p>\n\n<p>The scene also features a preference to the TARDIS\u2019s Hostile Action Displacement System \u2013 or HADS \u2013 which were first referenced way back in 1968\/69 story <a href=\"https:\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/tv\/sci-fi\/doctor-who-guide\/the-krotons\/\">The Krotons<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Russell T Davies has called Wild Blue Yonder \u201cweird\u201d and \u201cscary\u201d, but we still know relatively little about the episode\u2019s plot, which has led fans to theorise that a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/tv\/sci-fi\/doctor-who-wild-blue-yonder-mystery\/\">surprise guest appearance is being kept under wraps<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Read more:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/tv\/sci-fi\/doctor-who-eighth-doctor-audio-adventure-exclusive-newsupdate\/\">First look at Doctor Who\u2019s new Eighth Doctor audio adventure cover<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/tv\/sci-fi\/doctor-who-wrarth-warriors-exclusive-newsupdate\/\">How Doctor Who\u2019s epic Wrarth Warriors were brought to life<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>However, the episode\u2019s director Tom Kingsley has sought to play down the rumours while acknowledging that the plot is \u201ca TOTAL SECRET\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Describing the episode as \u201cweird and exciting\u201d, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/kingsley_tom\/status\/1729767825617633732\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">he added<\/a>: \u201cFan PSA: the story of Wild Blue Yonder isn\u2019t a secret because there are any surprise returning actors or villains. It\u2019s just because we thought you might find it fun to watch it without knowing what\u2019s going to happen next. Promise!\u201d<\/p> <p><strong>Doctor Who continues on Saturday 2nd December at 6:30pm on BBC One.
