Lee Jung-jae, the star of Netflix\u2019s massive hit series Squid Game<\/a>, has popped up in quite an unexpected place \u2014 he\u2019s the lead actor in a trailer for PUBG\u2019s new map.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re unfamiliar with PUBG, or PlayerUnknown\u2019s Battlegrounds to use its original name, here\u2019s a quick primer: this is a popular battle royale video game, published by a company called Krafton, which has been on the scene since March 2017. It even predates Fortnite<\/a>!<\/p>\n

The new PUBG map is called RONDO. It\u2019s the 10th map in the game\u2019s storied history, and it\u2019s coming out today (6th December) for PC players. The epic short film to mark the occasion can be viewed below:<\/p>\n\n<p>Not only does the short film star Lee Jung-jae, lead actor of one of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/tv\/what-to-watch-tv\/best-tv-series-netflix-shows-updated\/\" rel=\"noopener\">best Netflix series<\/a> of all time, but it also has some serious chops behind the camera as well.<\/p>\n<p>The short film, titled PUBG: Ground of Honour \u2013 RONDO, was directed by Sam Hargreaves, director of Chris Hemsworth\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/movies\/what-to-watch\/best-movies-netflix-watch-now\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Netflix movies<\/a> Extraction and Extraction 2.<\/p>\n<p>Starring alongside Lee Jung-jae in the film is Daniel Wu (The Man with the Iron Fists, Tomb Raider, Reminiscence).<\/p>\n<p>The press materials tell us: \u201cDaniel Wu takes the role of Alpha, striving for the survival of the entire team, while Lee Jung-jae portrays Beta, seeking revenge for his brother\u2019s death at the hands of the Alpha team.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The dramatic description adds: \u201cThis short film vividly depicts the essence of the new map through an intense showdown between two formidable adversaries.\u201d<\/p> <p>As for Squid Game, fans are still eagerly anticipating the return of Lee Jung-jae\u2019s Seong Gi-hun and his bright red hairdo in Squid Game season 2.<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, Netflix has created <a href=\"https:\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/programme\/b-m33hdc\/squid-game-the-challenge\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Squid Game: The Challenge<\/a>, putting real people through similar scenarios albeit without the deadly twist.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s even a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/tv\/entertainment\/reality-tv\/squid-game-the-challenge-netflix-sandbox-vr-experience-exclusive\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Squid Game VR experience in London<\/a>, which we braved ourselves recently! But still, there\u2019s something very cool about seeing Lee Jung-jae embracing the video game world with PUBG.
