The legendary US TV writer and producer Norman Lear has died at the age of 101.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Lear, known for bringing hit sitcoms to the world including One Day at a Time and All in the Family, died in Los Angeles of natural causes on Tuesday (5th December), a spokesperson for his family confirmed.<\/span><\/p>\n In a <\/span>statement<\/span><\/a>, Lear\u2019s family said knowing him had \u201cbeen the greatest of gifts\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n They added: \u201cThank you for the moving outpouring of love and support in honour of our wonderful husband, father, and grandfather.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cNorman lived a life of creativity, tenacity, and empathy. He deeply loved our country and spent a lifetime helping to preserve its founding ideals of justice and equality for all.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n The statement continued: \u201cKnowing and loving him has been the greatest of gifts.
