After managing to clear his name following his arrest for murder in the show\u2019s first outing, the protagonist discovered that members of his former army unit were being killed off \u2013 leaving him no choice but to track down the person or persons responsible, with a little help from his friends, of course.<\/span><\/p>\n Speaking exclusively to RadioTimes.com<\/a>, author of the Reacher books Lee Child was full of praise for the thriller\u2019s sophomore season \u2013 even going so far as to say that it\u2019s \u201cmuch better\u201d than its debut.<\/p>\n \u201cThe first season was wonderful in the sense that [Alan] Ritchson was new to the character, just as Reacher<\/span> was new to his life,\u201d Child explained. \u201cHe was learning to be Reacher<\/span> at the same time as Alan was getting into the role. That progression over the first two to three episodes of season 1 was perfectly done.<\/p>\n \u201cNow in season 2, everything is established, Alan is confident, the whole crew is confident. We were hoping to make it as good as season 1 and I think because of that confidence, it\u2019s actually turned out much better. I\u2019m really pleased with season 2.\u201d<\/p>\n Finding the right person to play Reacher was no small feat, with Lee and the team \u201clooking at a lot of actors\u201d, many of whom were \u201cgreat\u201d.<\/p>\n He added: \u201cIt was a real reminder how much talent there is in the acting pool. But we were looking for the perfect person and that was Alan Ritchson.<\/p>\n Read more:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cReacher<\/span> is a quiet guy, he doesn\u2019t talk much unless he has to, and therefore we needed an actor who could, without saying anything, without necessarily doing anything, own the screen \u2013 especially because in the opening episode, Reacher doesn\u2019t say anything during his <\/span>first eight minutes on the screen, which is a huge ask for an actor.<\/p>\n \u201cHe stepped on the screen and he immediately was Reacher,<\/span> and so it was a one-second decision, which I thought was eccentric. I thought I\u2019m going to have to talk to my fellow producers here and say I\u2019ve looked at this guy for one second and I want him. But happily everybody had the same conclusion.
