Ian Wright has confirmed he will be stepping down from BBC\u2019s Match of the Day<\/a>.<\/p>\n The football legend and pundit announced the news this morning (Sunday 17th December) on his X (formerly known as Twitter) account.<\/p>\n \u201cAfter my debut show whilst still a player in 1997 and many more memorable years, I\u2019ll be stepping back from BBC MOTD at the end of this season,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n \u201cI feel very privileged to have had such an incredible run on the most iconic football show in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n He noted that the decision to step down \u201chas been coming for a while\u201d but his birthday earlier this year \u201cfast tracked it a little\u201d.<\/p>\n He added: \u201cUltimately it\u2019s time to do a few more different things with my Saturdays.\u201d<\/p>\n After my debut show whilst still a player in 1997 and many more memorable years, I\u2019ll be stepping back from BBC MOTD at the end of this season.
