Disney is reported to be in the works of developing a new version of The X-Files<\/a>, set to be produced by none other than Black Panther and Creed director, Ryan Coogler.<\/p>\n The news was most recently reported by Bloomberg<\/a>, who also shared the news that Netflix are producing a Peaky Blinders franchise<\/a>.<\/p>\n The original whisperings of a new X-Files series came earlier this year when Deadline<\/a> revealed that the original series creator, Chris Carter, had confirmed speaking to Coogler about the upcoming project, though this is the first time it has been reported that Disney are involved.<\/p>\n Carter had told CBC podcast\u00a0On\u00a0the Coast with Gloria Macarenko: \u201cI just spoke to a young man, Ryan Coogler, who is going to remount\u00a0The X-Files with a diverse cast. So, he\u2019s got his work cut out for him because we covered so much territory.\u201d<\/p>\n Carter also gave some further insight into what a new series could be about, adding: \u201cWe\u2019re so steeped in conspiracies now. The X-Files dealt with a central conspiracy, but now the world is so full of conspiracies that I think that it would be a different show.\u201d<\/p>\n The original series debuted in 1993 and ran until 2002, being followed by movies and additional series over the years. But will the show\u2019s iconic Scully and Mulder be making a return? Well, it looks unlikely.<\/p>\n Gillian Anderson (who played Dana Scully) and David Duchovny (who played Fox Mulder) have both revealed more about their thoughts about a reboot, with Duchovny stating that he wouldn\u2019t want to be a part of it if Anderson wasn\u2019t.<\/p> Duchovny told Comic Book TV<\/a> last year: \u201cI don\u2019t know. I\u2019ve never really considered that. For me, it was always \u2018there\u2019s no show unless it\u2019s Chris and Gillian\u2019, so I don\u2019t know.<\/p>\n \u201cAgain, I don\u2019t want to have to think about that, because it\u2019s not something that I necessarily need in my life, to go do that. I think at this point, I mean, there might be another iteration of the actual show without either of us. I\u2019m not sure. Or there could be a cartoon.<\/p>\n \u201cThere are many ways to go about it.
