Percy Jackson fans have waited a long time for the young adult phenomenon to get a faithful screen adaptation \u2013 and that patience is finally being rewarded this winter.<\/p>\n

Disney Plus<\/a> is home to Percy Jackson and the Olympians, an eight-part series inspired by the first entry in Rick Riordan\u2019s fantasy saga following a young demigod and his friends.<\/p>\n

The author has been closely involved in this retelling \u2013 which is separate from the disappointing efforts of 2010 and 2013 \u2013 with one of his key demands being age appropriate casting to suit the story\u2019s coming-of-age elements.<\/p>\n

Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries and Aryan Simhadri take the three main roles of Percy, Annabeth and Grover, with Riordan hoping they\u2019ll be able to portray the characters for years to come.<\/p>\n

Filming on this first season took place between June 2022 and February 2023 \u2013 read on for details on the location of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians<\/a> set and the high-tech strategies used during filming.<\/p>\n

Where was Percy Jackson and the Olympians filmed?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Percy Jackson and the Olympians was filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia<\/strong>; one of the largest cities in Canada.<\/p>\n

The production utilised some real-life locations in the area, including Westminster Pier Park in the city of New Westminster, which was used by the shoot for a few days in August 2022 (via X<\/a>).<\/p>\n

However, not every location seen in Percy Jackson will be possible to visit, as some have been created virtually using Industrial Light & Magic\u2019s StageCraft technology.<\/p>\n

An evolution of the traditional \u201cgreen screen\u201d, this technique uses enormous, ultra-high definition screens to immerse performers in a chosen environment during filming.<\/p>\n

Therefore, much of the filming for Percy Jackson will have simply taken place at Industrial Light & Magic\u2019s Vancouver studio. Other StageCraft \u2018volumes\u2019 have been set up in California and London, but these were not used on this project.<\/p>\n
