Gibson has revealed more about her journey into the Whoniverse. <\/p>

We\u2019re one week away until Christmas Day and you know what that means \u2013 we\u2019re only days away from Ncuti Gatwa<\/a>\u2018s first full episode as the new Doctor in Doctor Who.<\/p>\n

The much-anticipated episode<\/a> will feature goblins, a new song and, of course, Gatwa\u2019s new companion Ruby Sunday, played by Millie Gibson<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Speaking to The Times<\/a> ahead of the new episode airing, Gibson revealed more about her upcoming role. And even though the young actor is starring alongside Gatwa, the former Coronation Street<\/a> star revealed that actually, her favourite Doctor is someone else.<\/p>\n

In The Times interview, it was revealed that \u201cGibson\u2019s own favourite Doctor is Matt Smith<\/a>, but she is already an admirer of Gatwa\u201d. Smith, of course, helmed the long-running series from 2010 and 2013, before passing the torch to Peter Capaldi.<\/p>\n

Even so, Gibson did admit that she had a poignant on-set moment in light of Gatwa\u2019s performance, saying: \u201cIt was like a masterclass every day with Ncuti. There\u2019s a scene in the Christmas episode where I was watching him perform and I just started to cry.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wasn\u2019t even on camera, so it was a wasted performance. He\u2019s my Doctor now, and I think so many people will connect with him.\u201d<\/p>

In terms of what she\u2019s anticipating from the reception to the Christmas Day episode, Gibson revealed that it doesn\u2019t feel real, saying: \u201cIt feels like we\u2019ve made a lovely little project and it\u2019s never going to be released to the world \u2014 but it is. I\u2019ve got to wrap my head around that. I\u2019m bracing myself.\u201d<\/p>\n

The new Christmas episode is titled The Church on Ruby Road<\/a>, so will obviously centre on the introduction of Gibson\u2019s character and how she falls into meeting the Doctor.<\/p>\n

While details about the episode remain under wraps for now, showrunner Russell T Davies has revealed that it will explore Ruby\u2019s backstory<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Speaking to\u00a0SFX magazine<\/a>, showrunner Russell T Davies said of the new Christmas special: \u201cIt\u2019s completely freestanding, and indeed when the series starts you can watch that from scratch, and yet faithful viewers\u2026<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s unashamedly the story of Ruby, it\u2019s called The Church on Ruby Road because that\u2019s where the church is where Ruby is left as a baby in 2004.\u201d<\/p>\n
