The new Netflix release marks Kane Robinson’s film debut after his standout Top Boy success. <\/p>

Top Boy fans may still be reeling from the ending of the fifth explosive season, but one of the series\u2019s standout leads, Kane Robinson<\/a>, is making his film debut in Netflix<\/a>\u2018s The Kitchen.<\/p>\n

The new film has been written and directed by Judas and the Black Messiah actor Daniel Kaluuya<\/a>, who penned it with Joe Murtagh (The Woman in the Wall<\/a>) and directed it alongside Kibwe Tavares (Robots of Brixton).<\/p>\n

The movie is a dystopian sci-fi and has been described as a film \u201cabout community, inequality, family, class, joy, resilience, courage, defiance and care in London \u2013 and communities around the globe\u201d.<\/p>\n

Well, now we finally have our first proper look at the film with a newly released trailer, which starts with a stark look at a built-up London where the gap between rich and poor is all too plain to see.<\/p>

\u201cGood morning. It\u2019s the Lord Kitchener, live and direct,\u201d we hear overhead as we see glimpses of a straight-faced Robinson as Izi and Hope Ikpoku Jnr as Staples, along with newcomer Jedaiah Bannerman as Benji.<\/p>\n

Looking like a Blade Runner<\/a>-esque type of city with high-rise buildings and busy marketplaces, Izi is convinced that he\u2019s going to make it out of this place, referred to as the Kitchen.<\/p>\n

But venturing to the richer side of the city, Izi comes to meet his son Benji, who is intrigued by the Kitchen, wondering if it\u2019s \u201creally like what they say it\u2019s like\u201d.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not long before we see the state of affairs, with amenities handed out from trucks, armoured police vehicles making regular trips and a motorcycle gang led by Staples taking to the streets and luring in Benji to his group.<\/p>\n

But will Izi be able to do enough to save his son and, ultimately, make it out of their difficult surroundings unscathed?<\/p>\n
