In the long-spanning time that Doctor Who<\/a> has been on our screens, there have been some starry additions to the Whoniverse.<\/p>\n

The beloved sci-fi series has featured the likes of Kylie Minogue<\/a>, Andrew Garfield, Carey Mulligan<\/a> and more \u2013 but it seems as though Helena Bonham Carter<\/a> was also set to appear in the show. That is, until Russell T Davies<\/a> advised her against it.<\/p>\n

The pair spoke about Carter\u2019s inclusion in the Whoniverse on tonight\u2019s Jo Whiley BBC Radio 2 show<\/a>, which they co-hosted.<\/p>\n

When asked by Whiley whether she had ever been in Doctor Who, Davies revealed: \u201cShe\u2019s been offered and madam was too busy. \u2018Not this time\u2019 came back the answer.\u201d He also added: \u201cThere are better parts coming.\u201d<\/p>\n

But Carter was previously asked to appear in an episode, Carter revealed, saying: \u201cWhat was it? You said, you actually said, \u2018This isn\u2019t quite good enough.’\u201d<\/p>

Reflecting on the role, Davies said: \u201cI did, oh gosh. Actually it wasn\u2019t\u2026 no, I mean it wasn\u2019t big enough, it wasn\u2019t good enough for you. It was a lovely part and they offered it, but I secretly sent you a note saying turn this down. We\u2019ll get you something better.\u201d<\/p>\n

Carter then added: \u201cHe did, he said, \u2018You know what, no pressure.’\u201d<\/p>\n

It was obviously something was previously kept under wraps, with Davies admitting: \u201cOh god, I never told the team that. I am completely hung and drawn and quartered now. I said, \u2018Don\u2019t do this!’\u201d<\/p>\n
