Helen star Rachel Shenton<\/a> spoke with RadioTimes.com<\/a> and other press about what this separation, and Helen\u2019s pregnancy, means for the character, revealing that she got to play a different side to her that viewers haven\u2019t seen before in the four seasons thus far.<\/p>\n Shenton said: \u201cI think this is the first year, there\u2019s always such a heavy theme particularly in the Christmas episode, of community and togetherness, and this year is no exception. And I think Helen is usuall<\/span>y at the heart of it, as she gets her sort of significance from helping others and serving others, and this is the first year that she\u2019s had to receive that.<\/p>\n \u201cBecause, well, one, she\u2019s missing James desperately, she\u2019s heavily pregnant so can\u2019t physicall<\/span>y move around and help people, and so she\u2019s sort of got no choice but to sit back and all<\/span>ow that community to help her. That was new, and you see her probably at her most vulnerable, reall<\/span>y, which was nice to play, and different.\u201d<\/p>\n Shenton also explained what fans can expect from Helen\u2019s storyline in the episode, saying: \u201cShe\u2019s due to visit James and she\u2019s desperate to see him, reall<\/span>y looking forward to it, of course, and then she\u2019s had a couple of twinges, and is just generall<\/span>y feeling a bit sort of unwell.<\/p>\n Read more:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cAnd Siegfried and Mrs Hall <\/span>are playing the kind of mom and dad figures in the house at that point, and get involved and ultimately contribute to the decision that it\u2019s best for her to stay where she is and not visit James. And I think that\u2019s incredibly hard, I think she\u2019s just desperate for that sort of connection with him.<\/p>\n Shenton explained a memory of filming a scene in which Helen and James speak on the phone, and she tells him \u201cOh God, I just needed to hear your voice\u201d.
