What’s to become of Cyril and Lucille? <\/p>

Earlier this year, the twelfth season of Call the Midwife<\/a> not only managed to tackle some of the heartwarming kind of stories we\u2019ve come to know the series for over the years, but it also tackled some thought-provoking tales with some well-known characters.<\/p>\n

One of the standout moments of the series for many was arguably the storyline involving\u00a0Lucille Anderson (Leonie Elliott)<\/a> and her departure from Poplar after her mental health had majorly deteriorated.<\/p>\n

Boarding a plane to Jamaica, we quickly learnt that Lucille<\/a> had accepted a job offer in a maternity ward there, cementing the fact that we may not be seeing Lucille any time soon.<\/p>\n

Of course, this was hard news on her husband Cyril (Zephryn Taitte), who had been informed of the news over the phone by her sister and has since been left in limbo.<\/p>

So, what could potentially be on the cards for the pair? Well, while we don\u2019t have any news of Elliott\u2019s return to the series, Taitte did inform RadioTimes.com<\/a> and other press of his hopes for the onscreen couple.<\/p>\n

He said of his character: \u201cHe\u2019s great! He\u2019s loving life. He\u2019s moping around. Legally, you weren\u2019t allowed to divorce, so he\u2019s stuck! No, I\u2019m just joking.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s just taking it day by day and in my head I believe he\u2019s writing her letters and hopefully they\u2019ll come back [together] one day if she responds. I think the door\u2019s always open for Lucille to come back. It\u2019d be lovely to see Leonie again.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for Cyril\u2019s own future and storylines this season, we\u2019ll just have to tune in to the new series when it airs in January 2024.<\/p>\n

While we may mourn the loss of one of the beloved Call the Midwife characters, with a new season also comes some new faces.<\/p>\n

Season 13 will see the introduction of student midwives and roommates Joyce Highland and Rosalind Clifford, who will be played by Renee Bailey and Natalie Quarry, respectively.<\/p>\n
