The McFly star isn’t sure about his bandmate and former Strictly winner’s advice <\/p>

Singer Tom Fletcher<\/a> is set to make his debut on the 19th series of Strictly Come Dancing<\/a> this September.<\/p>\n

He\u2019ll follow behind his McFly bandmate Harry Judd \u2013 who is one of the Strictly Come Dancing winners<\/a>, having won the series back in 2011.<\/p>\n

So it makes sense that he\u2019d be seeking advice from the drummer \u2013 right? Not quite.<\/p>\n

Speaking in an interview with press, including RadioTimes.com<\/a>, Tom revealed he doesn\u2019t quite \u201ctrust\u201d Harry\u2019s guidance because \u201che\u2019s quite competitive.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI haven\u2019t been able to stop him [Harry] talking about Strictly for 10 years,\u201d Tom\u00a0 explained. \u201cBut, I don\u2019t know whether I should trust his advice or if he is trying to secretly steer me in the wrong direction because he\u2019s quite competitive.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, the singer is feeling the pressure to meet up to his bandmate\u2019s standards.<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cI\u2019ve always felt like there\u2019d be pressure if I ever did strictly. It\u2019s been a part of our history. It was an amazing time for our band when he [Harry] won, so it has been his thing for a while. I feel like there will be pressure for me to go far.\u201d<\/p>\n

Asked why he decided to do the show now, he added: \u201cPersonally, I wanted to do it before I get too old. I already can\u2019t touch my toes and when Harry did it \u2013 he\u2019s got 10 years on me and he was in much better shape. So, I wanted to do it when I\u2019m still relatively youthful and able to jump around!\u201d<\/p>\n

Rather than focusing on winning the series, Tom plans to make it to Musical and Movie Week, which are both well known themes in the dance competition.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel like after 10 years, I just want to have a fun experience. You only do Strictly once, and I don\u2019t want to have to worry about competing with Harry Judd!<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m hoping that I get to experience as many dances, but I don\u2019t in any way think I\u2019m going to win. I would be gutted, like there\u2019s the landmark moment you want to get to, like Musicals Week and I\u2019d love to get to Movies Week.\u00a0 I\u2019d be gutted if I don\u2019t get to have those experiences because that\u2019s part of Strictly.\u201d<\/p>

So, what was Harry\u2019s reaction when Tom told him he\u2019d signed up for the BBC one dance show?<\/p>\n

\u201cHarry was the first person I asked, because like I said, it was his thing so I wanted to make sure he was happy with it. And he was really supportive and said I should totally do it and would have the best time!\u201d he gushed.<\/p>\n

The same can\u2019t be said for Tom\u2019s sister and wife Giovanna Fletcher, who won the 20th series of I\u2019m A Celebrity<\/a> last year.<\/p>\n

\u201cI told my sister and she just burst out laughing in my face. Even now, I can\u2019t say the word Strictly or just talk about it without her laughing. My wife Giovanna, she was really supportive. She\u2019s really excited. I don\u2019t know if she thinks it\u2019s going to be really funny, because it\u2019s not really me. Even though I\u2019ve wanted to do for a while is totally not like me, so my sister\u2019s reaction I think is actually probably quite an honest reaction.\u201d<\/p>\n
