John Whaite is set to make Strictly history this year by competing in the first all-male partnership. <\/p>
Strictly Come Dancing executive producer Sarah James has spoken about the show\u2019s first ever all-male partnership, revealing that it\u2019s something the team has \u201calways wanted to do\u201d.<\/p>\n
The upcoming series, which begins later this month, will see Bake Off winner John Whaite<\/a> make Strictly Come Dancing<\/a> history by becoming the first male celebrity to pair up with a male professional.<\/p>\n Speaking to press ahead of the Strictly 2021 launch, James said that she\u2019s \u201creally excited\u201d to see John and his partner take to the dance floor.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s definitely something that we\u2019ve always wanted to do and I\u2019m really excited about John doing it. I think he\u2019s already proven that he\u2019s an amazing spokesperson for it and obviously, he\u2019s a household name and he is just a brilliant guy so I\u2019m really looking forward to it being John.\u201d<\/p> She added that Nicola Adams and professional Katya Jones, who were the show\u2019s first all-female couple last year, paved the way for Whaite this year.<\/p>\n \u201cI think Nicola and Katya were amazing last year and I think everybody really, really enjoyed that partnership. It was obviously a shame that it was cut short because of what happened but they\u2019ve 100 per cent paved the way.
