Armitage stars in the new show alongside Michelle Keegan<\/a> and Joanna Lumley, who play his on-screen wife, Maya, and mother respectively.<\/p>\n His character, Joe Burkett, comes from a very wealthy family, with Lumley\u2019s Judith as the matriarch.<\/p>\n While there are set to be a lot of twists and turns in store for our characters, Armitage did admit that he lacks a certain level of \u201cself-assuredness\u201d that he had to embody in Joe.<\/p> Speaking to RadioTimes.com<\/a> and other press at a screening of the series, Armitage said: \u201cSeeing that level of wealth, which is often accompanied with extreme power, the kind of education he would\u2019ve had \u2013 what does that do to a person in terms of his entitlement and self-assuredness?<\/p>\n \u201cYou see a glimpse of it in the first scene, when they get together [\u2026] In reality, someone like him would\u2019ve gone up to somebody like her at a party and said, \u2018I am buying you a drink and we\u2019re then going to get married.\u2019 That kind of self-assuredness, which I don\u2019t carry at all.\u201d<\/p>\n Armitage added: \u201cTrying to understand that and seeing the scale of that house, getting in there thinking, \u2018What must it have been like to have grown up in a place like this?’\u201d<\/p>\n The mystery of the series very much surrounds his character Joe as, after his tragic murder, Maya is struggling to make sense of what\u2019s happened and continue building a life for herself and her young daughter.<\/p>\n But Maya has the shock of her life when she spots Joe on her new \u2018nanny cam\u2019, and everything she thought she knew is brought into question.<\/p>\n As well as the main plot of the series involving Joe, Maya and his mother, we also follow Adeel Akhtar\u2019s Detective Sergeant Sami Kierce, who is investigating Joe\u2019s murder \u2013 but is also grappling with secrets of his own.<\/p>\n Read more:<\/strong><\/p>\n There\u2019s plenty more to come in the show as, according to the series synopsis: \u201cMaya\u2019s niece and nephew, Abby and Daniel, are trying to find the truth about their mother\u2019s murder, several months earlier.
