Premiering on New Year\u2019s Day, the eight-part series<\/a> has already been binge watched aplenty, with viewers tearing through the episodes to find out whether what we saw on the nanny cam in the first episode was actually real.<\/p>\n With mystery and subplots dotted throughout, the finale<\/a> is jam-packed full of revelations, as Harlan Coben<\/a> returns with his signature double twist of an ending.<\/p>\n Well, it turns out that the novelist and TV series creator initially had doubts over bringing the action from the finale of the 2016 novel<\/a> to the small screen.<\/p> Commenting on the success of the series so far, Coben exclusively told RadioTimes.com<\/a>: \u201cIt\u2019s a thrill. I don\u2019t think I\u2019ve ever seen this much response, even with The Stranger or Stay Close, Safe \u2013 this much of the population just embracing the show.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s been kind of a marvel to watch, and yeah, the ending, I love that people are getting caught up in that.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen I wrote the book, I remember when I came up with the idea of the ending, I was like, \u2018That\u2019s really twisted, can I pull that off?\u2019 and I think we did \u2013 I think for the show, we did. I\u2019m really happy with it.\u201d<\/p>\n The new series follows Maya Stern (Michelle Keegan)<\/a> as she\u2019s rebuilding her life after the death of her husband Joe (Richard Armitage).<\/p>\n But she gets an almighty shock when she spots Joe on her nanny cam, and goes on a quest for the truth, trying to seek answers around his death and the murder of her own sister months prior.<\/p>\n As well as Keegan, the show stars Joanna Lumley and Adeel Akhtar, as well as Richard Armitage as Keegan\u2019s on-screen husband Joe.<\/p>\n In his third Harlan Coben series appearance, Armitage takes on a decidedly smaller role, but the finale sure packs a plot twist \u2013 which may very well include Armitage\u2019s best performance yet, according to Coben.<\/p>\n Read more:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n The writer told RadioTimes.com<\/strong>: \u201cRichard\u2019s such a terrific actor, and the roles he\u2019s playing on these shows are so different, the three he\u2019s now played on Stay Close, The Stranger and now Fool Me Once. I think it works.<\/p>\n \u201cThis might be, even though it\u2019s his smallest role in terms of screen time, it might be his best job. He\u2019s really good. That last episode, without giving anything away, the scene in the park is just great.<\/p>\n \u201cI was like, \u2018Richard, you\u2019re going somewhere on that.\u2019 He\u2019s such a hard-working actor, we\u2019ve all become friends with him, but that\u2019s sort of what we do.\u201d<\/p>\n The synopsis for the series reads: \u201cDetective Sergeant Sami Kierce (Adeel Akhtar) leads the homicide investigation into Joe\u2019s death while grappling with secrets of his own.<\/p>\n \u201cMeanwhile, Maya\u2019s niece and nephew, Abby and Daniel, are trying to find the truth about their mother\u2019s murder, several months earlier.<\/p>\n \u201cAre the two cases connected?
