Finally we have some news about The Last of Us season 2<\/a> and it\u2019s big! Kaitlyn Dever has officially been cast<\/a> as Abby Anderson.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Booksmart actress will have a huge role to play in the second instalment as she stars alongside Pedro Pascal (Joel) and Bella Ramsey (Ellie).<\/p>\n

Fans of the video game will know that Abby\u2019s appearance is linked to that brutal and emotional season 1 finale<\/a> in the hospital, and season 2 will see her face up to Ellie in a dangerous way. Basically, she\u2019s not to be messed with!<\/p>\n

While much about season 2 is being kept under wraps, Nick Offerman, who played Bill, recently teased his return after he won an Emmy for his heartbreaking portrayal of Bill in season 1.<\/p>\n

Asked whether he could return for season 2, Offerman told Deadline<\/a>: \u201cOh, great question but I would have to ask somebody with a higher pay grade than myself.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt certainly has been pitched. I think we pitched a whole mini-series of a prequel of their lives before they met each other,\u201d he added, joking: \u201cIt could be a musical. We\u2019re not short on ideas. We\u2019ll just we\u2019ll see what Craig [Mazin] and Neil [Druckmann] come up with.\u201d<\/p>

The Last of Us season 2 is scheduled to begin production this year after a delay due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.<\/p>\n

While the video game provides a basis for the story, co-creator Craig Mazin previously said he won\u2019t be afraid to take the story in a different direction.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt will be different. Just as this season was different,\u201d he told\u00a0ComicBook.com<\/a>. \u201cSometimes it will be different radically and sometimes it will be barely different at all. But it\u2019s going to be different and it will be its own thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cIt won\u2019t be exactly like the game. It will be the show that Neil and I want to make.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Last of Us is available on\u00a0Sky Atlantic<\/a>\u00a0and streaming service NOW.<\/strong><\/p>\n
