The actor has become a well-known face to television fans, recently bowing out of a lead role in BBC sitcom Ghosts<\/a> as well as stepping into a more villainous light for Netflix<\/a> thriller You<\/a>.<\/p>\n In ITV\u2019s returning detective drama Grantchester she plays Bonnie Davenport, the feisty character who married crime-solving vicar Will (Tom Brittney) in the previous season.<\/p>\n Fans of Ritchie\u2019s work will recall that her Call the Midwife character, Barbara Gilbert, also went on to marry a man of the cloth in Reverend Tom Hereward (Jack Ashton).<\/p> Addressing the connection, Ritchie joked: \u201cYes, and now I\u2019m looking for a third vicar to marry, if you hear about any shows with single vicars in them!\u201d<\/p>\n The actor, who is also known for Fresh Meat and Taskmaster<\/a>, went on to say that she had some initial doubts about playing Bonnie on the grounds that it could prove too similar to her Call the Midwife work.<\/p>\n She explained: \u201cI did hesitate\u2026 because I just thought that it might seem surreal, or kind of meta that there\u2019s this actress who\u2019s really into marrying vicars on screen.<\/p>\n \u201cBut then I thought Bonnie was such a different character from Barbara. Barbara was quite sweet and Bonnie feels different. And I didn\u2019t want to be so arrogant as to think that everybody who watched Midwife would watch Grantchester.<\/p>\n \u201cI assumed not everyone would have watched everything I\u2019ve been in.\u201d<\/p>\n Quizzed on what the latest episodes of Grantchester have in store for Bonnie and Will, Ritchie teased: \u201cThey\u2019re doing very well and are very much in love. I think they\u2019re very into each other and have a shared sense of humour.<\/p>\n \u201cBonnie\u2019s pregnant and they\u2019re looking forward to the baby coming. It\u2019s all pretty jolly\u2026 What could happen to ruin all that?\u201d<\/p>\n One potential point of conflict is Bonnie\u2019s lack of faith, which stands in stark contrast to her new husband.<\/p>\n Read more:<\/strong><\/p>\n Ritchie added: \u201cShe really doesn\u2019t have that faith that he does, but I think they\u2019re both willing to make it work.
