Peter Capaldi has reiterated that he has no intention to return to Doctor Who<\/a> \u2013 and he doesn\u2019t think the Twelfth Doctor should be back on our screens any time soon.<\/p>\n Speaking to Forbes<\/a> about his role in the new Apple TV+ thriller series Criminal Record<\/a>, the Scottish actor was asked if he was tempted to follow compatriot David Tennant in making a return to the show.<\/p>\n \u201cNo. I\u2019m a long-standing Doctor Who fan from being a kid,\u201d he explained, before adding that his Criminal Record character Daniel Hegarty is the same age as him and so might also have been a fan.<\/p>\n He went on: \u201cI like the idea that my Doctor is still out there. He\u2019s not available to come and be on TV. The real Doctor is not on TV, the real Doctor is out there.\u201d<\/p> Capaldi has consistently said that he doesn\u2019t plan on returning to the beloved sci-fi show, previously telling RadioTimes.com<\/a> that\u00a0he\u2019s \u201cdone his time\u201d<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI like the idea that you leave that as it is, instead of constantly digging up more of it,\u201d he explained back in October 2022.<\/p>\n Read more:<\/strong><\/p>\n But the actor did have good things to say about the recent 60th anniversary specials, which saw Tennant back in the role before an unprecedented \u2018bigeneration\u2019 introduced fans to yet another Scottish Doctor in Sex Education<\/a> star Ncuti Gatwa.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was wonderful, exuberant, and full of life, drama, and monsters,\u201d he said. \u201cDavid was wonderful, and Catherine Tate, of course. It\u2019s Doctor Who, you know, it\u2019s a gas and a good thing in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n\n
