And it’s not what you might expect. <\/p>
With only mere days to go before a new Great British Bake Off<\/a>\u00a0series lands on Channel 4, the broadcaster has finally unveiled the Great British Bake Off contestants<\/a>\u00a0ready to head to bake up a storm in the iconic tent this year.<\/p>\n Of course, Bake Off judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood are back, as are hosts Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas.<\/p>\n The quartet\u2019s easy chemistry makes for some of the baking series\u2019 most iconic moments, from Noel\u2019s teasing of the contestants to Paul\u2019s piercing blue stare. The latter has built quite the stern reputation but, as it turns out, the long-term judge isn\u2019t as \u201csteely\u201d behind the scenes, fellow judge Prue Leith recently revealed.<\/p>\n During a chat on The Radio Times Podcast<\/a>, Prue explained what happens \u201cwhen the cameras are off\u201d, saying that she was \u201csurprised at how knowledgeable [Paul] is, and how interesting he is, and also how extraordinarily kind he is\u201d.<\/p> \u201cYou know, you see the sort of severe face on Bake Off, and the steely blue stare \u2013 you know, the steely blue eyes,\u201d Prue told hosts Jane Garvey and Rhianna Dhillon. \u201cAnd after, if a baker is upset, it will be Paul who, when the cameras are off, will go and put his arm around them and tell them that it\u2019s not the end of the world \u2013 it\u2019s only cake, and tomorrow\u2019s another day, and they can do better.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s always him.
