“I think the opening line was like, ‘Cyrus enters, shirt off, does push ups and applies oil.'” <\/p>
Kevin Hart leads the cast of Netflix\u2019s latest big-budget action thriller, Lift<\/a> \u2013 but the comedian has revealed that the finished film looked rather different from the one he originally signed up for.<\/p>\n Speaking exclusively to RadioTimes.com<\/a> about what first attracted him to the project, Hart joked that the thing that initially grabbed his attention was a scene that didn\u2019t make it into the final cut.<\/p>\n \u201cThey took the reason why I jumped at it out,\u201d he said. \u201cThe first script that I originally read\u2026 it opened and I think the opening line was like, \u2018Cyrus enters, shirt off, does push ups and applies oil.\u2019 And I was like, \u2018This is for me.’\u201d<\/p> \u201cAnd that\u2019s what got me first. But then they changed that, they changed the pages. So, what I initially jumped at the project for was taken out.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd then what was put in there was great, which was just, like, an action thing, you know, great story, and we\u2019re in all these great places, but it started off as a jailhouse project.<\/p>\n \u201cSo to see it change \u2013 of course, change for the better. But when I first started on, it was like, \u2018Opens, he\u2019s fresh out of prison.’\u201d<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Loki<\/a> star Gugu Mbatha-Raw \u2013 one of many big names in the film\u2019s international supporting cast \u2013 also revealed what first stood out to her, mentioning one of the movie\u2019s exciting locations as a major pull.<\/p>\n Read more:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cI mean, honestly, Italy initially,\u201d she said. \u201cThe opening sequence in Venice, like, boat chase on the Grand Canal, the fact that my character is an Interpol agent\u2026 you know, she\u2019s sort of powerful, but the dynamic between our characters, I really loved on the page.\u201d<\/p>\n She added: \u201cThe fact that she\u2019s sort of the goody-goody and he\u2019s sort of, you know, the bad boy criminal. And their history \u2013 I just loved that dynamic.\u201d<\/p>\n Filming in Venice might have been one of the major draws of the film, but Hart also revealed that one scene shot in the historic Italian city almost ended in disaster \u2013 explaining that he had even feared for his life<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cWe hit a wave a little high, and the boat came down and, like, yanked real quick,\u201d he said. \u201cYou see the camera guy go to the side, F [Gary Gray, director] almost went outside of the boat.<\/p>\n \u201cI remember specifically saying to myself, \u2018Well, this is it, this is death \u2013 this is how we\u2019re all gonna do it.’\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Lift is streaming on Netflix now.\u00a0Sign up for Netflix from \u00a34.99 a month<\/a>.
