Impacted by the ongoing strikes of last year, filming is set to kick off on season 2 very soon \u2013 and we finally have some indication as to whether the series will deviate from the game<\/a> it\u2019s based on.<\/p>\n When asked by Deadline<\/a> at Sundance Film Festival about whether his character Joel<\/a>\u2018s arc deviates from the game<\/a>, lead actor Pedro Pascal said: \u201cDoes it deviate from the game? That\u2019s a good question.<\/p>\n \u201cI think that they\u2019re always going to find ways to build on the incredible source material that they have, and surprise us with how they can use that material in a different format like a television show.<\/p>\n \u201cBut I wouldn\u2019t want to spoil it for anybody, and the truth is, I don\u2019t actually have all of the information as of yet.\u201d<\/p> Pascal\u2019s comments follow on from showrunner Craig Mazin\u2019s previous revelations about season 2, telling ComicBook.com<\/a>: \u201cIt will be different. Just as this season was different.<\/p>\n \u201cSometimes it will be different radically and sometimes it will be barely different at all. But it\u2019s going to be different and it will be its own thing.\u201d<\/p>\n Mazin also added: \u201cIt won\u2019t be exactly like the game. It will be the show that Neil [Druckmann, co-creator] and I want to make.\u201d<\/p>\n More recently, there\u2019s been some major casting news, with Dopesick and Booksmart star Kaitlyn Dever being cast as Abby Anderson<\/a> for season 2, a character who will play a key part in Ellie\u2019s journey in season 2.<\/p>\n While details about the upcoming season are being kept under wraps, we also do know that Young Mazino (Beef) is confirmed to play Jesse, while Isabela Merced<\/a> (Transformers: The Last Knight) has also been announced to star as Dina.<\/p>\n Read more:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cDina is warm, brilliant, wild, funny, moral, dangerous, and instantly lovable.
