It was announced back in October 2022 that <\/span>Disney Plus would be the new home for Doctor Who internationally<\/span><\/a>, with new episodes starting from the 60th anniversary specials airing globally on <\/span>Disney Plus<\/span><\/a>, while still airing exclusively on the BBC in the UK and Ireland.<\/span><\/p>\n However, it was unclear how much creative control Disney would have over future episodes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n But now, speaking with SFX Magazine (via <\/span>GamesRadar<\/span><\/a>), Collins has assured fans that Doctor Who<\/a><\/span> won\u2019t be forcibly changed by Disney\u2019s involvement.<\/span><\/p>\n He explained: \u201cFrom the Disney perspective, it\u2019s just a bigger audience. So, the show is bigger. But it\u2019s the same? It\u2019s hard to explain\u2026\u00a0 So, all of the fear that everyone had, the \u2018Disneyisation\u2019 or whatever you call it, that would only happen if it wasn\u2019t being made by Russell. Or by somebody who wasn\u2019t as big a fan as Russell.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n He continued:\u00a0<\/span>\u201c<\/span>Russell wanted to bring fun to it, he just wanted to bring joy into the show and challenge people in all the right ways that Russell does. But also make it fun at the right points, make it really fun, take you on a ride. <\/span><\/p>\n \u201cSo, I think that\u2019s where the barrier to entry is removed, because adults and children alike enjoy that. If you look at that Christmas Special, he wanted it to have the fun of a Pixar film, and the complex levels of a Pixar film. <\/span><\/p>\n \u201cNo matter how well they\u2019re animated, they\u2019re all in the writing. They just are. They do workshops over the jokes and the humour and the nuance.
