A woman seeks to torment her brother’s murderer in the psychological drama. <\/p>
Colin Morgan and Annabel Scholey will lead the cast of a new psychological thriller titled Dead and Buried, commissioned by BBC Northern Ireland and Virgin Media Television.<\/p>\n
The four-part series will follow Cathy (Scholey), a woman sent reeling by a random encounter with Michael (Morgan) \u2013 the man convicted of murdering her brother two decades earlier.<\/p>\n
Upon further investigation, she is frustrated to learn that he has rebuilt his life since being released from prison, forming a seemingly loving family and establishing a successful career.<\/p>\n
With the traumatic death of her brother still casting a long shadow on her own life, Cathy feels Michael is undeserving of his prosperity \u2013 and launches a campaign of harassment designed to bring him down.<\/p>
Scholey explained: \u201cCathy is a wonderfully complex character, and I\u2019m excited to be bringing her to life and to [take] her to dark places with this brilliant team.<\/p>\n
\u201cLaura Way is a director I\u2019ve worked with before [on The Serial Killer\u2019s Wife<\/a>] and we have a wonderful shorthand, so it\u2019s very exciting to be teaming up again for such a compelling story.\u201d<\/p>\n The synopsis warns that \u201cdark fantasies of revenge and reality blur\u201d as her obsession deepens.<\/p>\n Murphy\u2019s Law creator Colin Bateman is behind the story, which was previously performed as a one-woman stage show titled Bag For Life.<\/p>\n Colin Morgan said: \u201cI\u2019m delighted to be embarking on Colin Bateman\u2019s dark, funny and compulsive new drama Dead And Buried.<\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s a brilliant team working on this, and it already feels incredibly exciting. I can\u2019t wait for it to hit the screens and for it to pull viewers along its twisted path.\u201d<\/p>\n Bateman, who remains involved as both writer and executive producer, added: \u201cVery excited that Dead and Buried is coming to television.<\/p>\n \u201cIt has been a fascinating journey from the original short story, to the one-woman stage show, and now expanded into an exciting four part drama.<\/p>\n \u201cAlthough it has changed greatly, the actual conundrum at the heart of the story is universal and timeless \u2013 what do you do if you meet someone who has prospered after murdering one of your loved ones? Do you say something? Do you do something? How would you react?\u201d<\/p>\n The cast of Dead and Buried, which is filming now across both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, also includes Kerri Quinn (Hope Street), Waj Ali (Carnival Row<\/a>), Owen Roe (Vikings) and Niamh Walsh (The Sandman<\/a>).<\/p>\n Dead and Buried is coming soon to the BBC.
