The producer behind Netflix mega hit The Watcher<\/a> has offered a brief update on season 2.<\/p>\n

Inspired by a true story<\/a>, the eerie thriller chronicled the misfortune of a family who move into a beautiful suburban home, only to find themselves plagued by menacing letters from a mysterious figure known only as \u201cThe Watcher\u201d.<\/p>\n

Bobby Cannavale and Naomi Watts led the star-studded cast<\/a> as Dean and Nora Brannock, with Jennifer Coolidge, Margo Martindale, Richard Kind and Mia Farrow playing potential suspects in the harassment case.<\/p>\n

The series proved to be a major ratings win for Netflix<\/a>, which renewed the show for a second season back in November 2022, but virtually nothing has been heard about it since.<\/p>

Yet executive producer Eric Newman, who is currently promoting fellow Netflix drama Griselda<\/a>, assured fans that he was \u201cvery excited\u201d about the future of The Watcher.<\/p>\n

He told RadioTimes.com<\/a>: \u201cI can say nothing other than we\u2019re very excited about the prospect of another season of The Watcher. That\u2019s all I can say. I\u2019d love to say more, but I cannot.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd certainly, given that that\u2019s a different partnership, I would be speaking without my partners present. So next time, [when] we\u2019re all in a room together with Ryan [Murphy] and Ian [Brennan], we can talk about The Watcher.\u201d<\/p>\n

One of the major questions lingering over The Watcher season 2 is whether it will continue the story of the first, which was left open-ended, or take an anthology format in the style of several other Ryan Murphy shows.<\/p>\n

This was not clarified when the initial renewal was reported, nor has it been since.<\/p>\n

At the time, then-head of global TV at Netflix (now chief content officer) Bela Bajaria said via TUDUM<\/a>: \u201cThe creative team of Ryan Murphy and [\u2026] Eric Newman, on The Watcher, are masterful storytellers [who\u2019ve] captivated audiences all over the world.\u201d<\/p>
