Warner Bros chairman Channing Dungey has provided an update, saying that they\u2019re currently searching for a showrunner \u2013 and that casting is still to come.<\/p>\n
Suggesting it will be \u201ctricky\u201d to find a new golden trio<\/a>, she told Variety<\/a>: \u201cWe\u2019re in conversations with a number of different writers to figure out who\u2019s going to be the person to lead that franchise for us.<\/p>\n \u201cThe first step for us is figuring out who this showrunner is going to be, and once we get that locked down, then we can start having those [casting] conversations. The tricky part is the first two books, where the kids are on the younger end, around 11 or 12.\u201d<\/p>\n Each season of the new live-action series will be an adaptation of each of the seven books, with a brand new cast playing the beloved characters.<\/span><\/p>\n So, when can we expect the series to land and who could star? Read on for everything we know so far.<\/span><\/p>\n Casting for the new series is still set to kick off, with Dungey saying that any reports that it\u2019s already in progress are inaccurate.<\/span><\/p>\n Hero Talent Group founder Nicole Tasker told The Times<\/a> that a handful of actors will be picked through open calls.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n She said: \u201cThe casting team will do open calls on social media, go to local drama groups and contact all the child agencies. It used to just be the big drama schools, but everything is more open now.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n However, it hasn\u2019t stopped fans from giving their picks as to who could star in the show.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n British actor Toby Woolf is rumoured to be taking over from Daniel Radcliffe as the newest Harry Potter. The actor previously appeared in Billie Piper\u2019s film Rare Beasts<\/a>.
