A Harry Potter TV series<\/a> based on all seven books about the titular character is coming, but there is a lot of work still to be done.<\/p>\n

The new Max Original series will \u201cdive deep\u201d into each book written by JK Rowling, and Chairman and CEO of HBO & Max content Casey Bloys has assured fans the series would be \u201ca faithful adaptation\u201d.<\/p>\n

The \u201cdecade-long\u201d series has recently invited a select group of creatives to pitch ideas for the series, as reported by Deadline<\/a>, and in a new interview with Variety, Chairperson of Warner Bros Television, Channing Dungey, has given an update on casting for the series.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re in conversations with a number of different writers to figure out who\u2019s going to be the person to lead that franchise for us,\u201d Dungey told Variety<\/a>.<\/p>\n

She noted that current rumours and speculation around casting are inaccurate.<\/p>

Dungey continued: \u201cThe first step for us is figuring out who this showrunner is going to be and once we get that locked down, then we can start having those [casting] conversations.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe tricky part is the first two books, where the kids are on the younger end, around 11 or 12.\u201d<\/p>\n

The series will be executively produced by JK Rowling, alongside Neil Blair and Ruth Kenley-Letts.<\/p>\n
