Erik Messerschmidt spoke exclusively to RadioTimes.com about the possibility of returning for more of David Fincher’s Netflix series. <\/p>

Ever since the second season of Mindhunter<\/a> arrived on Netflix in summer 2019, fans have understandably been clamouring for a third run \u2013 even when it seemed there was no possibility of a return for the acclaimed crime drama.<\/p>\n

There was more promising news earlier this month when star Holt McCallany teased that showrunner David Fincher was exploring resurrecting the show, explaining that he\u2019d \u201cheard that David\u2019s thought about it\u201d during an interview with Awards Daily.<\/p>\n

And while that by no means confirms that the series will be back for a much hoped-for third run, one person who definitely wants to be included in a potential new season is cinematographer Erik Messerschmidt.<\/p>\n

Messerschmidt has continued to collaborate with Fincher on his films Mank and The Killer, winning an Oscar for the former, and speaking exclusively to RadioTimes.com<\/a> ahead of The Killer\u2019s release last October he revealed he\u2019d jump at the chance to team up for more Mindhunter.<\/p>

\u201cIf my phone rang and David said, \u2018We\u2019re going to go back and do the third season of Mindhunter,\u2019<\/span> I would be thrilled, of course,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

However, he also pointed out that in the event that another season isn\u2019t picked up, he can look back with great pride and fondness on the two runs that did get made.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat is a creative chapter in my life that I really feel like I\u2019m quite content that we made it,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019m certainly proud of the work. I know the crew and the cast are, and it was certainly special and a life-changing experience for me individually.<\/p>\n

He concluded: \u201cBut, you know, I don\u2019t know. I\u2019m a fan of it, too, so\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

Messerschmidt isn\u2019t the only one who\u2019d love to return, with McCallany himself teasing that he wouldn\u2019t need to think twice about reprising his lead role as FBI Agent Bill Tench if push came to shove.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not saying it\u2019s going to come back, but what I am saying is that if<\/em> it comes back, I\u2019m coming back with it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can take that to the bank, but it\u2019ll depend on what David wants to do.\u201d<\/p>\n
