For all of her wealth and power, the life of Griselda Blanco, the \u201cGodmother of Cocaine\u201d, was beset with tragedy.<\/p>\n

The Colombian drug baron, who created one of the most formidable cartels in history and had a net worth of billions \u2013 in spite of the extensive misogyny she endured throughout her reign \u2013 had four sons in total.<\/span><\/p>\n

But only one of her children is alive today. What happened to each of them? Read more to find out everything you need to know about Griselda Blanco\u2019s sons.<\/p>\n

Michael Corleone Blanco, whose name was inspired by<\/span>\u00a0The\u00a0Godfather, is her only surviving child. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

He told <\/span><\/span>MailOnline<\/a> that he had survived seven attempts on his life while living in Colombia, where he joined the family business from the age of nine.<\/span><\/p>\n

His father was <\/span><\/span>Dario <\/span>Sep\u00falveda, Blanco\u2019s third husband, who was reportedly killed by men dressed as police in Colombia<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMy mother was no saint,\u201d he told The Mirror<\/a> in 2020. \u201cShe had to survive to do her thing. But at the end of the day, she was my mother. I will forever honour and respect her. I love her.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Griselda Blanco was killed in September 2012<\/a> by two gun-toting men on a motorbike while she was exiting a butcher\u2019s shop in Medell\u00edn. <\/span><\/p>\n

Corleone Blanco was 34 years old at the time and was on house arrest<\/a> due to<\/span> being charged with two felony counts of cocaine trafficking and conspiracy to traffic in cocaine.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a call I had been dreading for years,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019<\/span>d spoken to her at two that morning. <\/span>They said to me, \u2018Michael, I\u2019m standing over your mother\u2019s dead body.\u2019 <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cEven right now it brings tears to my eyes because I was with my boys when I got that phone call. I was teaching my youngest one how to swim. <\/span>I said, \u2018I\u2019m not going to let these kids live the life that I lived.\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBut to get out of that life you have to let certain individuals know there won\u2019t be any retributions. It was taken care of in the old country, Colombia.\u201d<\/span><\/p>

Corleone Blanco, who is married and has children of his own, has since turned his back on the cartel life, but he did speak about the subject in VH1 reality series Cartel Crew, which ran from 2019-2021.<\/p>\n

He has his own lifestyle brand, Pure Blanco, and is writing a book about his mother.<\/span><\/p>\n

He has also launched a lawsuit<\/a> against Sof\u00eda Vergara<\/span>, who stars as Griselda, and Netflix.<\/span><\/p>\n

His estate alleges that it did not authorise the use of his image in the series (via Entertainment Tonight<\/a>), which Corleone Blanco wants to prevent from being released.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt is beyond dispute that Griselda Blanco made the ultimate decision for Michael Blanco, her son, to carry out and benefit from her life as it relates to artistic and literary productions based on her story,\u201d said the family in a statement. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>Although Michael Blanco is a public figure himself with his own rights to publicity, Mr Blanco continues to honour his mother\u2019s executed intent.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

It goes on to claim that he was \u201cmore than willing to share\u2026 nonpublic details of his mother\u2019s life with Latin World Entertainment\/Netflix if he was to be fairly compensated\u201d, but after he was \u201capproached\u201d by those involved, they acted like \u201che does not exist\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

The statement added: \u201cIt is disappointing that Latin World Entertainment\/Netflix would pretend that it is acceptable to use Michael Blanco\u2019s commercial work without his permission.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Netflix has yet to comment.<\/p>\n
