Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer Giovanni Pernice<\/a> has opened up about his training style, following Amanda Abbington<\/a>\u2018s exit from last year\u2019s competition.<\/p>\n The Sherlock actress, who was viewed as a frontrunner for the Glitterball trophy, departed Strictly 2023<\/a> just five weeks into the season, citing \u201cpersonal reasons\u201d.<\/p>\n Following tabloid speculation that there was a rift between Abbington and Pernice, it was reported (via The Sun<\/a>) that Abbington has now requested backstage footage of the pair from the BBC as she takes legal advice.<\/p>\n On last night\u2019s episode of The One Show, as Pernice discussed his current tour and his time on Strictly<\/a>, host Alex Jones asked him: \u201cThere\u2019s been a bit in the press recently about you and your Strictly partners. How would you describe yourself as a teacher?\u201d<\/p>\n Pernice said: \u201cI\u2019m definitely a perfectionist. Like every other competitor, I like to win.<\/p>\n \u201cBut for me, it\u2019s more about getting the best out of my partner, especially if I see there is talent there. I want to do my job properly.\u201d<\/p> Pernice added: \u201cI think, like everyone, you train your life to be the best, and when you\u2019re on Strictly, you\u2019ve only got one week.\u201d<\/p>\n Jones, who competed on the dance competition show in 2011, then joked and said to Pernice: \u201cYou would have cried if you were with me. You would have been like, \u2018Well, what\u2019s the point?’\u201d<\/p>\n Pernice continued: \u201cThe point is, you\u2019ve got four days to create a new dance, to put it to music, to try to teach the technique, plus all the other interviews you have to do in the week.
