AJ explained why she’s nervous about lifts and what her mum will think of being criticised on the show. <\/p>
Another series of Strictly Come Dancing<\/a>\u00a0is about to begin, with this year\u2019s Strictly Come Dancing contestants<\/a> taking to the dance floor this Saturday for the first gala of 2021.<\/p>\n One such contestant is presenter\u00a0AJ Odudu<\/a>, who is best known for hosting The Voice UK and The Voice Kids.<\/p>\n Speaking to\u00a0RadioTimes.com<\/a>\u00a0and other press, AJ revealed that, when it comes to lifts, she\u2019s more nervous about her partner.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m more nervous for the person lifting me up,\u201d she said. \u201cObviously I don\u2019t know my dance partner but I just hope whoever it is their hands are big. I\u2019m like, \u2018Don\u2019t drop me!\u2019 I\u2019m excited for lifts.\u201d<\/p> We\u2019ve yet to find out which of the Strictly Come Dancing professionals<\/a> AJ and her fellow contestants will be partnered up with, but we\u2019re certain they\u2019ll have no trouble lifting and twirling their partners around.<\/p>\n AJ also explained why she thinks competing in a show is more difficult than presenting. \u201cI think when you\u2019re presenting a show, it\u2019s not about me, it\u2019s about the guests I\u2019m interviewing or the contestants I\u2019m guiding through and trying to calm down their nerves,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n \u201cNow that the shoe is on the other foot\u2026 I now feel like I have an inkling as to how the [Voice hopefuls] may be feeling at that time. You want to always do your best.\u201d<\/p>\n AJ, who also recently went on a road trip around Nigeria in search of a husband with her mum Florence for Channel 4\u2019s Manhunting With My Mum, revealed how her mum might react when it comes to criticism from the Strictly Come Dancing judges.<\/p>\n \u201cI feel like my background and my experience as a TV presenter will lend itself to having a bit of thick skin,\u201d AJ said. \u201cIt\u2019s such an amazing show will an amazing line-up of judges, so I just want to listen and learn. My mum on the other hand, I think she will be like any mum \u2013 very protective.\u201d<\/p>\n She added: \u201cShe only wants to hear good things about me.
