Married life hasn’t been everything they hoped. <\/p>

Helen George has described confrontational scenes between Call the Midwife<\/a> character Trixie and her new husband, Matthew (Olly Rix), as \u201chard\u201d to film as fans remain in suspense over their future.<\/p>\n

Season 12 ended with the couple getting married<\/a> in a beautiful ceremony, but there have been a \u201cfew bumps\u201d for them in the latest run, which is currently airing on Sundays on BBC One and iPlayer.<\/p>\n

Appearing as a guest on The One Show, star George told Alex Jones and Jermaine Jenas about where the couple stand at present and teased the \u201chard-hitting\u201d scenes ahead.<\/p>\n

She explained: \u201cThey\u2019ve just got married and you think, \u2018Gosh, it\u2019s so happy, and he\u2019s very rich and she gets all these posh clothes, and it\u2019s great.\u2019 But then, you know, there\u2019s bumps along the way.\u201d<\/p>

The actor went on to clarify that there was an enjoyable aspect to the scenes, too, describing them as \u201cdifferent\u201d to other storylines she has handled during her lengthy tenure on the period drama.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut it\u2019s fun, as well,\u201d continued George. \u201cThey\u2019re hard-hitting scenes, especially towards the end of the series, but it very much turns into a kind of kitchen sink drama by the end of it.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe scenes that we filmed are so real, like any couple at home today. They\u2019re really great to play, really fun to play \u2013 different.\u201d<\/p>\n

The outcome of Trixie and Matthew\u2019s marriage woes<\/a> is an area of intense interest for Call the Midwife fans, following reports that Rix will be leaving the show after the current season.<\/p>\n

Rumours followed that George could follow him, with the actor declining an opportunity to explicitly confirm her future on The One Show.<\/p>\n

In response to a viewer question, she said: \u201cYou have to keep watching until the end of the series, and just see how the character evolves\u2026 and let\u2019s see what happens in the future. But I love the show dearly.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the prospect of leaving Call the Midwife, George previously told RadioTimes.com<\/a>: \u201cYou never have complete control. Absolutely, it\u2019s a genuine fear. You never know.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd they might just come to a point where they think, \u2018Do you know what? We\u2019ve got nothing more to say about your character. There\u2019s nothing left to do with you. So you\u2019re off.\u2019 It happens.\u201d<\/p>\n
