Is the commissioner going to be alright, after all? <\/p>

Fans of Death in Paradise<\/a> are bracing themselves for this weekend\u2019s momentous 100th episode<\/a>, not just as a cause of celebration for the long-running series, but also because Commissioner Selwyn Patterson (Don Warrington) will be left fighting for his life after being shot.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a lot to process for fans of the beloved character, and the incident looks set to rock Saint Marie and his fellow policing colleagues as they\u2019re left in limbo as the commissioner\u2019s life hangs in the balance.<\/p>\n

And we get our first look at the heightened emotions in an exclusive clip for RadioTimes.com<\/a>, which shows Naomi (Shantol Jackson) and Marlon (Tahj Miles) having a frank conversation about how they\u2019re feeling in the midst of the drama.<\/p>\n

Naomi asks Marlon plainly how he is, a question that clearly leaves him confused at first \u2013 but after Naomi says she knows how much the commissioner means to him, Marlon opens up a little more. \u201cThat man changed my life,\u201d he sighs.<\/p>

\u201cI guess you don\u2019t know how much you care about somebody until you\u2019re about to lose them,\u201d he continues.<\/p>\n

Of course, Marlon\u2019s journey into the police force was helped by the commissioner, who saw talent in the previous petty criminal, and helped turn his life around by pushing him to take the entrance exam.<\/p>\n

As Marlon and Naomi share a heartfelt moment, Naomi leans in to give Marlon a hug \u2013 but Marlon takes a step back, referencing the Christmas party kiss.<\/p>\n

After Naomi says she wasn\u2019t going to kiss him, Marlon says: \u201cLook, it\u2019s just like the Christmas party all over again, you can\u2019t help yourself.\u201d<\/p>\n

Then he jokes about being irresistible and having that effect on women, but when Naomi clocks on to his joke, she retracts the offer of the hug. As she\u2019s turning to walk away, though, Marlon admits that he could really use a hug right now, after all.<\/p>\n
