The film features an all-star cast<\/a> that includes Henry Cavill, Sam Rockwell, and Samuel L Jackson, but for Vaughn, securing one particular song for the film\u2019s soundtrack was arguably more important than landing any of those big names.<\/p>\n Now and Then<\/a>, the final song by The Beatles, plays a crucial part in the film, and the director explained during an exclusive interview with RadioTimes.com<\/a> that he couldn\u2019t believe his luck when he first heard of the possibility.<\/p> \u201cI know Giles Martin, who was a producer of the song, and I was struggling to find a love song which had pathos and hope,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd then Giles said to me\u2026 I thought he was joking when he said, \u2018Do you want to hear the new Beatles song? It might fit.\u2019<\/p>\n \u201cAnd I was like, \u2018What are you talking about? A new Beatles song, are you out of your mind?\u2019 And then he played it to me. And I was just shocked. I was really, really shocked. And then it was like, \u2018Oh my God, now I\u2019m not allowed to tell anyone about this for a year!\u201d<\/p>\n He added: \u201cI had to meet with Sir Paul [McCartney] and all the families and get their permission and show them the film \u2013 it was fiery hoops that I didn\u2019t mind jumping through because it was like, what an experience and what an honour.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd yeah, I\u2019m just amazed I got to work with The Beatles and use a new Beatles song.
