Speaking to RadioTimes.com<\/a> at the Radio Times Covers Party 2024<\/strong>, Hussein revealed his thoughts on what he\u2019s most excited for in the future of the long-running sci-fi series, but wasted no time in bestowing particular praise on Capaldi\u2019s Twelfth Doctor.<\/p>\n When asked about what he\u2019s looking forward to most in the future of Doctor Who, Hussein said: \u201c[That he] goes off to a more mysterious future. I don\u2019t want him to be someone whose unavailable or is out of place.\u201d<\/p>\n He continued: \u201cHe\u2019s a guide to gather humans. He knows too much but he doesn\u2019t know how to convey things. I love Peter Capaldi. Peter gave it a kind of vulnerability.\u201d<\/p>\n Capaldi more recently reacted to the slate of 60th anniversary episodes of Doctor Who\u00a0in an interview with\u00a0Forbes<\/a>. \u201cI enjoyed it. I thought it was great and a lot of fun,\u201d he said of the 60th anniversary.<\/p>\n He continued: \u201cIt was wonderful, exuberant, and full of life, drama, and monsters. David was wonderful, and Catherine Tate, of course.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s\u00a0Doctor Who, you know, it\u2019s a gas and a good thing in the world. It\u2019s a nice, fun, exciting thing, and I look forward to the rest of the specials and Ncuti Gatwa coming along. I\u2019ve met him, and he\u2019s very inspiring and charming.\u201d<\/p> Currently, Capaldi can be seen on our screens in Apple TV+\u2019s Criminal Record<\/a> and in the upcoming new season of Prime Video\u2019s The Devil\u2019s Hour<\/a>, but has reiterated the fact that he won\u2019t be returning to the Whoniverse, previously telling RadioTimes.com<\/a>\u00a0that\u00a0he\u2019s \u201cdone his time<\/a>\u201c.<\/p>\n Hussein, of course, directed the first serial of Doctor Who, An Unearthly Child<\/a>, in 1963 and returned to direct most of the fourth serial, Marco Polo, in 1964.<\/p>\n Read more:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Also speaking about the return of showrunner Russell T Davies, Hussein said of the new era of Doctor Who: \u201cIt\u2019s bound to change. I\u2019m fascinated by it.<\/p>\n \u201cI love what Russell T [Davies] is doing, I\u2019m a great fan of his. It needs a good writer.
