Sylvester Stallone is among the Hollywood stars paying tribute to actor Carl Weathers, who died this week aged 76.<\/p>\n

The actors worked together on the Rocky film series, where Stallone played the title role and Weathers played his rival-turned-friend Apollo Creed, appearing in the first four entries.<\/p>\n

Weathers went on to star in legendary \u201980s action flick Predator and Adam Sandler comedy Happy Gilmore, while he parodied himself in television\u2019s Arrested Development and earned an Emmy nod for his recurring role on The Mandalorian.<\/p>\n

Following the announcement that he had died \u201cpeacefully in his sleep\u201d, a tearful Stallone took to Instagram<\/a> to celebrate his former co-star\u2019s talent and legacy in an emotional video.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday is an incredibly sad day for me,\u201d he began. \u201cI\u2019m so torn up, I can\u2019t even tell you. I\u2019m just trying to hold it in because Carl Weathers was such an integral part of my life, my success, everything about it.<\/p>\n

\u201cI give him incredible credit and kudos because when he walked into that room and I saw him for the first time, I saw greatness. But I didn\u2019t realise how great.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stallone continued: \u201cI never could have accomplished what we did with Rocky without him. He was absolutely brilliant. His voice, his size, his power, his athletic ability \u2013 but more important, his heart, his soul.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actor was wearing black, but standing in front of a colourful painting depicting a boxing match between Rocky and Apollo.<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cIt\u2019s a horrible loss. And I\u2019m standing here in front of this painting because it was probably the last moment we were ever in the ring together and I\u2019ll never forget it. He was magic and I was so fortunate to be part of his life, so Apollo, keep punching.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the comments section, a number of other recognisable names could be found paying tribute to Weathers.<\/p>\n

Boxer Antonio Tarver, who played Mason Dixon in 2006\u2019s Rocky Balboa, said: \u201cWe all dreamed to be the next Apollo Creed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, actor Katee Sackhoff, who worked with Weathers on The Mandalorian, commented the show\u2019s famous catchphrase: \u201cThis is the way.\u201d In a separate post<\/a>, she said she was in \u201ccomplete shock\u201d over the news.<\/p>\n

Looking elsewhere, another of his former co-stars Arnold Schwarzenegger said on X<\/a> (formerly Twitter): \u201cCarl Weathers will always be a legend. An extraordinary athlete, a fantastic actor, and a great person.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe couldn\u2019t have made Predator without him. And we certainly wouldn\u2019t have had such a wonderful time making it.\u201d<\/p>\n

In his own tribute<\/a>, Adam Sandler described Weathers as a \u201cgreat man\u201d and said that \u201ceveryone loved him\u201d.<\/p>\n

Weathers is survived by two sons.<\/p> <\/body><\/html>\n
