Jeremy Renner has given an update on whether he will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe<\/a>, following a horrific accident that almost claimed his life.<\/p>\n The Hollywood star was crushed by a snowplow in a terrible incident that unfolded in January 2023, breaking 30 bones and requiring intensive care as medical professionals raced to save him.<\/p>\n Fortunately, they were successful in their efforts and Renner has since been treading the long road to recovery, giving an interview to CNN on New Year\u2019s Eve<\/a> in which he said he had \u201ca lot\u201d to live for.<\/p>\n Last month, just over a year on from the accident, Renner returned to work on the third season of his Paramount Plus<\/a> drama Mayor of Kingstown but admitted he was \u201cnervous\u201d about the move (via Instagram<\/a>).<\/p>\n Read more:<\/strong><\/p>\n The actor offered a fresh update to Entertainment Tonight<\/a> this weekend, which included whether he saw himself returning to the comic book franchise which helped make him a household name.<\/p>\n On the prospect of returning as Clint Barton aka Hawkeye<\/a>, he said: \u201cI\u2019m always game. I\u2019m gonna be strong enough, that\u2019s for sure. I\u2019ll be ready.\u201d<\/p>\n Renner\u2019s Hawkeye was last seen in his self-titled Disney Plus<\/a> series \u2013 not counting a recent Echo appearance<\/a> via archive footage \u2013 in which he fought mobsters in New York City and took protege Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) under his wing.<\/p>\n The character had expressed interest in retiring from superhero duties in order to spend more time with his family, so it\u2019s possible that future appearances could see him in a more behind-the-scenes, strategic role anyway.<\/p> Speaking of his Marvel co-stars, Renner revealed: \u201cAll those guys come to my bedside and they\u2019ve been with me all along through this recovery, so\u2026 if they want me, they could have me. It would be something.\u201d<\/p>\n Marvel Studios has given no indication of when Hawkeye might reappear, but it seems likely that announced crossover flicks The Kang Dynasty<\/a> and Secret Wars<\/a> will bring together a host of familiar faces from across the franchise.<\/p>\n Renner added: \u201cI\u2019ll do whatever I can\u2026 whatever it takes to get better, to get stronger. It\u2019s a one-way street, this recovery. The rest of my life is about health and wellness. Recovery will be part of the rest of my life, so I look forward to it, man.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s hard for me to look back, to be honest with you. It\u2019s hard for me to look forward. I focus on now and this next step in front of me, \u2019cause there\u2019s always another obstacle for me right now.\u201d<\/p>\n\n
