Author and former political advisor Derek Draper passed away aged 56 last month. <\/p>

Kate Garraway made an emotional appearance on Good Morning Britain this morning (Monday 5th February), as she returned to the programme for the first time since the death of her husband Derek Draper last month<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Author and former political advisor Draper passed away aged 56 at the beginning of January, four years after he began suffering severe health concerns when he contracted COVID during the 2020 pandemic.<\/p>\n

Garraway first shared the tragic news in an\u00a0 Instagram<\/a> post last month, saying she \u201cwas by his side holding his hand throughout the last long hours and when he passed\u201d.<\/p>\n

And speaking to hosts Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley from her home in London this morning, she opened up about the outpouring of love she and her children have received since she shared her tribute.<\/p>

She explained how she had received \u201cextraordinary things\u201d including a \u201chandwritten, beautiful\u201d letter from David and Victoria Beckham and another from the royal family.<\/p>\n

\u201cCatherine and William sent a beautiful letter,\u201d she said. \u201cI know Catherine has been in hospital herself, so that was lovely.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd even the king. Because there is somebody that knows about grief, and also knows about that sort of anticipatory grief where you know something has a risk of happening and will maybe at one point inevitably happen, but how different it is when it does happen.\u201d<\/p>\n
She added: \u201cI\u2019m not sure I\u2019m allowed to say these things because I think you\u2019re sort of sworn to secrecy. I\u2019m not going into too much detail, but I just think it was lovely of them to reach out to me, but it\u2019s lovely to know that those people understand those emotions.<\/p>\n
