We haven\u2019t heard back from FromSoftware yet, but a spokesperson for Tencent said: \u201cWe don\u2019t comment on speculation and rumours.\u201d<\/p> It certainly seems like there may be, but it\u2019s not as cut-and-dry as you might think<\/strong>.<\/p>\n It is also reported in the Reuters article that Tencent purportedly tried to bring the Nier series to smartphones, but ultimately halted the project due to \u201cmonetisation concerns\u201d.<\/p>\n This is against the wider context that Tencent is reported to have grown hesitant to develop mobile games based on existent IPs, owing to a plateau in gaming revenue growth and that a \u201chefty royalty fee can leave a game barely profitable\u201d.<\/p>\n Despite Tencent purchasing the rights in 2022, and the fact that work began on an early version of the purported title right away, the anonymous sources said that \u201cprogress has been slow\u201d.<\/p>\n But as Reuters also points out, Tencent chairman Pony Ma believes the \u201ccompany\u2019s video games business faces great challenges\u201d in another article<\/a>.
