Death in Paradise executive producer Tim Key has discussed the future of the hit show, following its milestone 100th episode<\/a> which saw a beloved character in peril.<\/p>\n The show is currently confirmed to remain on the air until at least 2025, while spin-offs Beyond Paradise<\/a> and Return to Paradise<\/a> also have episodes on the way.<\/p>\n Of course, some fans wonder just how long the series could continue, with the regular swapping out of its main star meaning it could conceivably run and run for decades, much like Doctor Who<\/a>.<\/p>\n Speaking to RadioTimes.com<\/a>, Key didn\u2019t offer any specific timeframe, but did speak to the longevity the show has enjoyed so far, explaining that \u201cthere is something genuinely very special about it\u201d.<\/p> He continued: \u201cLike a lot of producers, I have worked on shows that kind of got a bit of indifference. Not this show \u2013 this is the show where people come and go, \u2018I love it.\u2019 And then keep watching it.\u201d<\/p>\n Key added, \u201cSo long may that continue,\u201d which implies that there are no plans to stop in the near future.<\/p>\n The season 13 premiere saw Commissioner Selwyn Patterson (Don Warrington) shot in an apparent assassination attempt<\/a>, leaving him in a serious condition as his colleagues scrambled to find the culprit.<\/p>\n
