The rugby star explained the pre-show ritual he’ll be keeping from matches ahead of his Strictly debut. <\/p>

A brand new series of\u00a0Strictly Come Dancing<\/a>\u00a0is here, with a fresh batch of\u00a0Strictly Come Dancing contestants<\/a>\u00a0ready to give their all in the dance floor this year.<\/p>\n

Of course, they\u2019ll be paired with the Strictly Come Dancing professional dancers<\/a>\u00a0in as yet undisclosed couples. Former rugby star Ugo Monye<\/a>\u00a0is one of the famous faces set to compete for the top spot \u2013 and it looks like he\u2019ll be implementing some pre-match rituals before the galas to ensure he has every chance of lifting that coveted glitter ball.<\/p>\n

\u201cI loved listening to music [before matches], that always gets me in the mood,\u201d he told RadioTimes.com and other press. \u201cI might have to turn down some of the music I listen to because that was all about combat, while this is all about finesse, grace and poise.\u201d<\/div>\n

And there\u2019s another ritual he\u2019ll be carrying over to, to get a bit of \u201csupernatural support.\u201d<\/div>\n

He added: \u201cBut I also rang my mom and said a prayer on the phone before every single rugby match, wherever I played in the world, and that won\u2019t be stopping.<\/div>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll need her support, I\u2019ll need that supernatural support as well for when I do this. So yeah, I\u2019ll be ringing my mum before every show.\u201d<\/div>\n

Ahead of Ugo\u2019s Strictly debut, the BBC recently released official photos<\/a>\u00a0of the glitzy and glamorous cast and crew, giving us a first look at the new pros joining the line-up,\u00a0Kai Widdrington<\/a>, Cameron Lombard, Jowita Przystal, and Nikita Kuzmin<\/a>.<\/p>\n
