SJ Clarkson says she felt “we’d said everything we needed to say in the film”. <\/p>
The director of new superhero film Madame Web<\/a> has explained why the movie doesn\u2019t have an end credits scene.<\/p>\n It has become a tradition for entries into this genre to include an extra scene at the end of the film, either teasing a future instalment or referencing something that happened earlier in the movie \u2013 but SJ Clarkson has revealed that she wanted her feature debut to stand on its own.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was about telling a great story,\u201d she said during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cMy father always used to say, \u2018If you have to say something, stand up, speak up and then shut up.\u2019 So when I got to the end credits, I felt that we\u2019d said everything we needed to say in the film. It\u2019s up to whatever is next to take on the button.\u201d<\/p> \u00a0<\/p>\n Madame Web arrived in UK cinemas today \u2013 Wednesday 14th February \u2013 and has been met with overwhelmingly negative responses<\/a> from critics, billed as an \u201cembarrassing mess\u201d in one review and as \u201cthe worst comic book movie I have ever seen\u201d in another.<\/p>\n Read more:<\/strong><\/p>\n It is the fourth entry in Sony\u2019s shared Spider-Man Universe, following Venom, Venom: Let There Be Carnage and Morbius \u2013 the latter of which suffered from similarly terrible reviews.<\/p>\n\n
